SMS Terms & Privacy

SMS messaging terms.

Grit sends SMS messages on behalf of chiropractic practices for appointment reminders, confirmations, and practice notifications. This page describes how SMS messaging works, how consent is collected, and your rights.

Last updated: March 30, 2026

1. What messages will I receive?

When you opt in to SMS notifications from your chiropractic practice, you may receive:

  • Appointment reminders (e.g., "Your appointment is tomorrow at 2:00 PM")
  • Appointment confirmations and scheduling updates
  • Practice notifications (e.g., office closures, schedule changes)
  • Balance and billing notifications
  • Replies to messages you send to the practice

Messages are sent on behalf of your healthcare provider's practice. Message frequency varies based on your appointment schedule and practice communications.

2. How consent is collected

You will only receive SMS messages after providing your consent through one of the following methods:

  • Patient portal — Opting in through your account settings or during registration
  • In-office — Providing written or verbal consent at your practice
  • Text reply — Replying YES or START to a consent request

Your consent is recorded with a timestamp and the method used. Consent is specific to the practice you opted in with — opting in at one practice does not opt you in at another.

3. How to opt out

You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any message
  • Updating your preferences in your patient portal account
  • Contacting your practice directly

After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts will be sent. You can opt back in at any time by replying START or through your patient portal.

Opting out of SMS does not affect your ability to use the secure patient portal or receive in-app messages from your provider.

4. Help

Reply HELP to any message for assistance. You can also contact your practice directly or email us at support@chiropracticgrit.com.

5. Message & data rates

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Grit does not charge patients for SMS messages, but your carrier's standard messaging rates apply.

6. Privacy & PHI

SMS messages sent through Grit are limited to non-clinical content. We do not send protected health information (PHI) such as diagnoses, test results, or treatment details via text message. For private medical communications, your provider uses the secure patient portal.

Your phone number is stored securely and is only used for practice communications you have consented to. We do not sell, share, or use your phone number for marketing purposes unrelated to your healthcare provider.

7. Supported carriers

SMS messaging is supported on all major US carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint, as well as most regional carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of SMS services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
